Students Fly The Coop and Study Birds in Nature!

Our students LOVE a field trip…and going to the Audubon Society was such a great adventure for all of them.  We are so blessed to have a local Audubon Society where our students can go experience and learn firsthand about conservation and birds.  How wonderful it was to see the excitement on our student’s faces as they learned about AR birds and the type of habitats they need to survive.  After direct instruction from an Audubon leader, the students were given the opportunity to make bird seed feeders.  Once the feeders were finished it was off for a hike!  Each student had a journal and binoculars and was taught how to look for birds and then make notes in their journal.  The students always have fun when we are out on a field trip, building relationships with peers and gaining confidence and independence with skills needed to be successful in the community.

Students did learn many different things on this field trip but the most important aspect of the trip was providing another opportunity for them to see God’s handiwork.  All Children’s feels a huge responsibility to expose our students to the concept of being good stewards of what God has given us.  Taking care of the Earth and all things God has made is a way of life for those of us who are believers.  I am thankful for the Audubon Society and their mission.
